The French Knights and the Capitulation of Malta in 1798: An Opportunity or a Crisis?

Fleur Brincat is currently a doctorate student of the Department of History at the University of Malta. Her interest in the history of the early modern period has led her to read for a master of arts in Baroque studies and a master of arts in Hospitaller studies, and it was her second master that actually fuelled her passion for the Order of St John. In her doctorate studies she is researching the connection between France and Hospitaller Malta throughout the 18th century, in fact, today she will be speaking about the fate of the French knights after the onset of the French Revolution and the arrival of Napoleon.
