The seeds of this book were sown in 2013 when the Malta Historical Society Committee was planning its own commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the Great Siege of 1565. Careful consideration was given to avoid repeating any of the many other activities that such a remarkable anniversary was bound to attract across Malta. The 2015 edition of the MHS History Week was thus born: The 1565 Great Siege: the Founding of Valletta and their Lasting Effects.
